Community Gift Matching Proposal Application
Support for quality education, with an emphasis on math and science, is Harris Corporation's primary philanthropic platform. The majority of funding from the Foundation is provided to educational initiatives. In non-educational fields, the Foundation gives priority to requests from local community organizations that serve the health, welfare, civic and cultural needs of Harris employees and families.
To apply for the Harris Employee Gift Matching program, an organization whose purpose is consistent with the objectives of the Harris Foundation must submit the proposal below. Proposal submissions may be made between February 1 - 28 of each year for consideration of funding for the next fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). Proposal Process Summary
Once you submit your proposal, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from the Harris Foundation. All proposals are then presented to the Board of Trustees for consideration. The Harris Foundation will send you a letter with the funding decision of the trustees no later than the July timeframe. Harris Community Gift Matching Program
The Community Gift Matching Program was established to encourage good citizenship on the part of Harris employees through support of charitable, cultural and civic programs that benefit their local communities. All organizations must be non-profit, 501(c)(3) institutions eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions or international charities with equivalent certification.
Contributions
Gifts of $10 or more made by employees to approved organizations will be matched by the Harris Foundation up to the approved employee limit of $1,000 per organization per fiscal year (July 1 to June 30). Gifts will be matched until organizations reach their approved limit of $10,000 per fiscal year. Contributions of securities of known value qualify for gift matching.
Acknowledgement
Prior to completing your proposal, you must review the contribution restrictions and guidelines below. All proposals that conflict with these restrictions and guidelines will not be considered for funding.
Contribution Restrictions: Contributions are generally not made to the following:
- Individuals. All requests must be for certified non-profit organizations.
- Organizations that discriminate illegally by race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability or national origin.
- Religious organizations for religious purposes. Organizations that are supported or operated by religious organizations may be considered if their services are offered to the general public.
- Professional associations, labor organizations, fraternal organizations or social or school clubs.
- Hospitals, hospices, nursing homes, etc.
- Athletic organizations
- Social organizations
