Governor-elect Rick Scott visited Harris Corporation on Monday, December 6, as part of his statewide tour to gather ideas that will help create 700,000 jobs in 7 years.
The visit included a 50-minute technology roundtable discussion with Howard Lance, chairman, president and CEO of Harris, along with executives of other technology companies in Florida, including Honeywell, Lockheed Martin, Space Florida, Tensor Engineering, Boeing, Infra Management Group, Avera Motors, Electronic Arts and the Space Coast Economic Development Commission.
During the roundtable, participants discussed ideas to create jobs, such as using incentives to attract and retain business, collaborating with universities, and developing new technology initiatives. The group also discussed identifying best practices from other states that can be modeled in Florida.
During the visit, Scott and Lt. Governor-elect Jennifer Carroll toured the Harris Customer Briefing Center to see first-hand the range of industry-defining technology developed by Harris. They also held a meeting at the facility with state legislators representing districts from Daytona Beach to Vero Beach.
