- December 2009 - Harris Corporation selected as a Champion of Diversity by Diversity/Careers in Engineering & Information Technology.
- November 2009 - Harris Corporation Gift Creates Gateway to Learning and Innovation at UF College of Engineering. The University of Florida's College of Engineering announced today that it is receiving $3 million in support from Harris Corporation, to promote research collaboration, train scientists, and retain and recruit faculty. The gift, made through the Harris Foundation, will establish an endowment fund to support early stage, innovative research projects in the field of computer science and engineering.
- November 2009 - Harris Corporation was presented the CODY Award by the Congress of Diversity Executives (CODE). The CODE Awards (The CODYS) celebrate the noteworthy achievements of leading corporations, organizations and executives in the field of diversity. The CODYS set the industry standard for corporate and executive achievement in the realm of diversity and inclusion.
- October 2009 - Harris Corporation is featured as one of the finest employers in America - employers who are still hiring by THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Magazine's "The Mother Lode of Career Opportunities for 2009/10", the most comprehensive source of entry-level career opportunities on the Internet available to seniors and recent graduates. The Mother Lode is published in THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Magazine, the First Semester Super Issue and on THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online, The Mother Lode of Career Opportunities for the Class of 2009/10.
- October 2009 - 2010 Golden Torch Awards Winners The National Society of Black Engineers named Harris Corporation the honoree for Corporate Community Service. The award will be presented at the 13th Annual Golden Torch Awards ceremony to be held Saturday, April 3rd in Toronto, ON Canada. Each year individuals, companies, and institutions that have produced a consistent body of highly distinguished work, served as role models for others and advanced opportunities for African Americans within our industry are honored.
- October 2009 - Florida Tech Opens Harris Center to Explore Cyber Research Harris Corporation as well as members of the community, Florida Institute of Technology officially dedicated the new 27,723-square-foot Harris Center for Science and Engineering. The Center, made possible by a unique partnership between Florida Tech and Harris, houses the Harris Institute for Assured Information which is designed to research innovative solutions to global information security problems. The vision for the Institute is to create a national center of excellence for cyber research in Melbourne, leveraging high-tech partners locally and nationally.
- October 2009 - Bayside High Graduate Receives Harris-FAMU 'Life Gets Better' Scholarship for Incoming Freshmen Pursuing Degrees in Engineering, Computer Sciences Harris Corporation in partnership with Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) announces Derick Pierre Bayside High School graduate as the first student to receive a 'Life Gets Better Scholarship' sponsored by Harris. The scholarship covers the cost of Pierre's tuition, fees, room and board, and books for four years. It also includes a $500 stipend each semester, summer internships at Harris, and a laptop computer.
- October 2009 - Harris Corporation is presented the Space Coast ONYX Award for Cultural Diversity by the LBS Foundation Incorporated & Onyx Magazine. The Onyx Awards is Florida's signature African American awards celebration of "Black Trailblazers" and corporations that promote inclusion and diversity in the workplace.
- August 2009 - Harris Corporation's GRAD program is recognized in Space Coast Business Magazine article on Elements of a Top-Notch On-Boarding Program. Article profiles employers that invest money, time, and energy into recruiting and hiring new college graduates.
- August 2009 - Harris Corporation was named one of Florida's 'Best Companies to Work For' by Florida Trend business magazine. Harris was ranked in the category representing large companies with 250 or more employees. In August issue of Florida Trend and at www.floridatrend.com.
- August 2009 - Harris Corporation received the University of Central Florida (UCF) Partnership Award for its ongoing financial support of academic programs that enhance educational and career opportunities for students. Harris was recognized during the Colburn Society Reception held on campus Wednesday, August 19.
- June/July 2009 - Best Diversity Company by the readers of Diversity/Careers in the 2009 Readers Choice Survey. The official results will be announced in the June/July issue.
- June 29, 2009 - Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications and information technology company, was honored with a Stevie® Award in the category Best Overall Company of the Year - More Than 2,500 Employees during the 2009 American Business Awards held June 23 in New York City.
The 7th annual Stevie Awards were presented in over 40 categories including Best Overall Company of the Year, Executive of the Year, and Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year. More than 2,600 entries from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration. More than 200 executives across the country participated in the judging process to determine the finalists and Stevie Award winners.
- May 2009 - Harris Corporation Recognized by Foreign Policy Association for Commitment to Corporate Responsibility. Harris Corporation was among five companies recently awarded the prestigious Foreign Policy Association's (FPA) Corporate Social Responsibility Award. Howard L. Lance, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Harris Corporation, accepted the award on behalf of the company and its 15,000 employees during the FPA's annual dinner on May 27, 2009, in New York City.
- May 2009 - Harris recognized by CollegeGrad.com as Top Entry Level Employers for 2009.
- May 2009 - Harris recognized by CollegeGrad.com as Top Intern Employer for 2009.
- April 2009 - The Washington Business Journal Announces the Top 50 Best Places to Work in Greater Washington and Harris Crucial Security is on the list. The Awards reception was held on June 11, 2009.
- April 2009 - World's Most Ethical Companies. Making it onto the World's Most Ethical Companies list proves to be more and more difficult every year. This year Ethisphere received a record number of nominations from companies in over 100 countries and 35 industries. This year, Harris Corporation along with 98 other companies made the list.
- March 2009 - Harris Named One of the Most Admired Companies for Third Consecutive Year. Harris has been named one of the most admired U.S. companies in an annual survey by Fortune magazine for the third consecutive year. Harris ranked as the sixth most admired company in the "Network Communications" category and ranked fourth in our industry for social responsibility. - February 2009 - Harris Corporation ranked No. 41 on THE BLACK Collegian's list of the Top 100 Employers of the Class of 2009. The Top 100 Employers of the Class of 2009 is featured in THE BLACK COLLEGIAN's Second Semester Super Issue and on THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online. Although the job outlook for 2009 graduates looks bleak, elite employers will continue to seek out the best and the brightest in many majors. The Top 100 Employers of the Class of '09 is an elite group of employers who, in spite of the economic meltdown, have maintained their on-campus recruiting programs.
- January 2009 - Hispanic Network Magazine Names Harris as one of the best Aerospace Company for engineering and technology.
- Harris recognized by Women Executive Leadership for being one of 16 Florida companies with two or more women serving on its corporate boards.

- December 2009 - Kristi Fox, CHQ IS Project Manager, receives Project Manager of the Year Award.
- November 2009 - Government and defense are on the offensive despite economic turbulence. Diversity Careers features Harris Corporation as diversity-minded defense contractor focused on long-term goals: ongoing relationships with key university partners and attracting top new college grad talent. That is why Victor Jimenez Delgado a recent graduate of the University of Puerto Rico was recruited by Harris.
- November 2009 - Harris Corporation's John Facella Elevated to Fellow with the Radio Club of America. Harris Corporation commends John Facella, Harris director of Public Safety Markets, for his elevation to Fellow by the Radio Club of America (RCA). RCA recognizes Facella's lifelong dedication to radio technology and his work in communications for first responders.
- October/November 2009 - Partners in defense: major contractors work together with the small firms. Diversity Careers magazine recognizes Harris Corporation's commitment to supplier diversity. Harris has a formal supplier diversity program and a small-business office lead by Rhonda Sammon that is focused on boosting the subbing opportunities for small businesses. The small-business office is action-oriented and takes a hands-on approach to helping the smaller firms understand where they might fit in.
- October 2009 - Harris Corporation's Andrea Bortner Featured as One of Top 'Women Worth Watching' by Profiles in Diversity Journal. Andrea Bortner, vice president of Human Resources for the Government Communications Systems Division of Harris Corporation, is one of 87 executives from FORTUNE 500 companies featured in Profiles in Diversity Journal's annual list of WomenWorthWatching. The executives highlighted in the September/October 2009 issue represent a range of industries, experiences and styles, and each contributed an essay focused on mentoring and leadership.
- Summer/Fall 2009 - Interns get a realistic perspective on employer expectations and work values. "In today's competitive market it's important for students to get experience in the workplace prior to graduation," says Lisa deCordova, college recruiting manager at Harris Corporation (Melbourne, FL). Jahmar Ignacio is a systems integration and test engineer at Harris. Ignacio says he learned a lot about Harris as a summer intern. "We were treated like engineers, like real employees," he says. "They didn't just give us busy work!"
- March 2009 Diversity Careers Engineering and Technology Magazine - Hispanic techies find rewarding careers in government work. Chico Moline is VP for Navy and Marine Corps programs at Harris Corp (Melbourne, FL), an international communications and IT consulting firm. He works at the Harris IT Services location in Dulles, VA, near Washington, DC.
- March 2009 - Human Resource Executive magazine has selected GCSD Staffing Lead April Bailey as one of five HR Rising Stars from across the U.S. In its fourth year, this national award recognizes HR professionals who have demonstrated leadership in their current position, the ability to successfully launch significant HR initiatives and programs, and the ability to tackle major HR-related challenges.
- March 2009 - Society of Women Engineers Recognizes Harris Employee for the Outstanding Woman Engineer Award. Award winner Wendy Martin, engineering director in GCSD's Civil Programs Business Unit, has received the Outstanding Woman Engineer Award from the Space Coast chapter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) for her leadership.
- Jan/Feb 2009 Careers Engineering and Technology Magazine - Women claim an escalating role in IT "IT requires organization, analysis, patience, thoroughness, communication and forward thinking, and most women apply these skills daily, regardless of their career choices." – Patricia F. Dial, DBA, The Harris Corp. Also featured is Patricia F. Dial, DBA with Harris. Patricia Dial has worked for Harris Corp for twenty-eight years now. She's responsible for system admin and integration of government, commercial, domestic and international financials, supply chain and HR.
- Winter 2008/Spring 2009 Diversity Careers Engineering and Technology Magazine - IT INTERNSHIP AND CO-OP OPPORTUNITIES AT DIVERSITY-MINDED COMPANIES: Internships in IT can provide real-world work experience. Georgia Dunlap thought she had two more years of grad school to find an industry or company that interested her and an IT internship for Harris Corporation's broadcasting industry business changed her course.
