The news coverage that followed the revelation that Prince Harry of England was serving with British forces in Afghanistan focused in great part on his role as a Joint Terminal Air Controller (JTAC). JTACs are responsible for calling in air strikes to provide cover for coalition forces coming under enemy fire. Prince Harry, third in line to the British throne, used Harris Falcon II® and Falcon III® radios to accomplish his mission. Visible in his backpack in several of the scenes on the attached video is the antenna of a Harris Falcon II AN/PRC-117F multiband manpack radio. One close-up in the video shows the JTRS-approved Falcon III AN/PRC-152 (C) handheld radio. The AN/PRC-152 (C) handheld is also visible next to Prince Harry on his cot in the attached photo. Both radios are critical communications gear for Prince Harry's role in calling in accurate and timely air strikes and avoiding friendly fire incidents.
Harris is honored that the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence has chosen our very reliable, technically superior Falcon radio products.
