Harris Corporation Joins the Advanced Media Workflow Association

Harris Shares Association's Goals to Promote Solutions that Facilitate Efficient File-Based Workflows for Broadcast and Content Creation

CINCINNATI, August 2, 2007 — Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has joined the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) to help promote solutions that increase efficiency in television broadcast workflow and content creation.

Formerly known as the Advanced Authoring Format Association (AAF), the AMWA changed the name earlier this year to better reflect the organization's broader mission to develop solutions for facilitating end-to-end, file-based workflows. One solution that the AMWA intends to refine and promote is the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) approach to streamlining file-based workflows, ranging from ingest and nonlinear editing to program delivery, automation and archive.

As a member of the AMWA, Harris will contribute its expertise with respect to SOA and other workflow advancements, as well as adopt standards that the AMWA develops. Harris is a leading provider of broadcast television software solutions that take advantage of the benefits of SOA computing. The Harris® H-Class™ family of products-including the Invenio® and Intelligent Media Mover digital asset management systems-employs the technology to provide users a platform that integrates all of the key processes comprising today's broadcast, content creation and media distribution workflows.

"Harris was quick to recognize the potential of SOA for linking and integrating disparate, third-party applications into a seamless, unified platform," said Chris Lennon, director of Integration & Standards for Software Systems, Harris Broadcast Communications. "We believe that we can make a positive contribution to the AMWA because we already have considerable expertise and experience in applying SOA to the broadcast environment. The fact that the AMWA has chosen to focus on SOA validates the decisions and direction that Harris has already taken with its H-Class™ product family and H-Class™ enterprise management application."

"AMWA is pleased to have Harris Corporation join our organization, especially in light of the important work the company has done in Software-Oriented Architectures," said Brad Gilmer, executive director of the AMWA. "When the AMWA expanded its remit to include software architectures, we knew there was a lot of interest in the industry. We believe this work is critical as a next step in building file-based workflows, and it is significant that Harris has decided to join in this effort."

About the AMWA
The AMWA's mission is to promote the development and adoption of open, accessible standards and specifications related to file-based workflows (including AAF, MXF and other formats), Service-Oriented Architectures and Application Specifications. The AMWA also works to promote such specifications worldwide, and to create high customer awareness of, demand for, and confidence in, products designed in compliance with these specifications. The AMWA will focus on content creation, production, post-production, rich media authoring, archiving and distribution. In addition to Harris, the AMWA membership includes many of the industry's top media companies and vendors: Adobe Systems, Avid Technology, Omneon, Autodesk, Turner Broadcasting, Fox, Grass Valley, Panasonic and Sony Electronics.
