Harris Corporation Wins Radio World "Cool Stuff" Award for New FlexStar HDE-200 Exporter for HD Radio Broadcasters

CINCINNATI, May 5, 2008 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, was honored with a prestigious radio broadcast industry award at the 2008 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB2008) convention held April 14-17 in Las Vegas. Harris, along with the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and iBiquity Digital Radio, won Radio World newspaper's "Cool Stuff" award for the new Harris® FlexStar® HDE-200 exporter.

The Radio World "Cool Stuff" award-winning products, announced by U.S. Editor-in-Chief Paul J. McLane, were selected by a panel of expert radio broadcast engineers as notable for their design, features, cost efficiency and performance in serving radio broadcast users.

The FlexStar HDE-200 exporter was developed to minimize HD Radio™ technology implementation costs for radio stations and introduce new technical improvements to the end-to-end transport chain. The HDE-200 is the most feature-rich next-generation exporter on the market, with a host of integrated options that enable reduced equipment costs upstream for HD Radio broadcasters. Those options include Arbitron PPM™ loop-through support, a GPS receiver, and profanity and diversity delays with front panel control.

Introduced at NAB2008, the FlexStar HDE-200 exporter brings HD Radio broadcasters a unique feature set that better supports the delivery of multiple HD Radio program streams over a single, dedicated IP connection. The HDE-200 is offered at a much lower price than the previous generation of exporters and is provided at a reduced cost for NAB members. In developing the HDE-200 exporter, Harris aligned itself with NAB and iBiquity Digital. NAB is leading the initiative to develop lower-cost, next-generation exporters to drive HD Radio™ implementation at the station level. iBiquity Digital developed new software code specifically for the industry's next-generation exporters. The Harris solution embeds the new software into a fully functional 1RU hardware component with no moving parts to increase reliability over previous generation exporters.

Harris Broadcast Communications provides products, systems, and services that deliver interoperable workflow solutions that span the entire broadcast delivery chain. The Harris ONE™ approach brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that are ideal for emerging media business models and for customers upgrading media operations to digital and high-definition services.
