Falcon III AN/PRC-117G Multiband Manpack Radio Fulfills Requirements for "JTRS-Approved" Status
WASHINGTON, D.C., OCTOBER 6, 2008 (AUSA Booth #1439) — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, announced today that its Falcon III AN/PRC-117G(V)1(C) manpack networking radio has fulfilled Joint Tactical Radio System test requirements. The latest testing milestones included certifications from the JTRS Joint Test and Evaluation Lab (JTEL) and Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC). The JTRS-approved Falcon III AN/PRC-117G(V)1(C) multiband manpack allows the warfighter access to secure IP data at on-air rates up to 5 Megabits per second using its Type-1 certified, SCA-compliant software-defined architecture. To date, the AN/PRC-117G has received four major technical certifications, including:
"The AN/PRC-117G is the world's first wideband/narrowband tactical radio and is ready to lead the DoD's transition to a networked battlefield communications environment," said Steve Marschilok, vice president and general manager, Department of Defense Business, Harris RF Communications. "The AN/PRC-117G has significant size, weight and power advantages over legacy radios, providing space for more sustained expeditionary operations." The AN/PRC-117G is the first and only combined wideband/narrowband tactical radio to be deployed by the U.S. Department of Defense. The radio provides the warfighter with reliable and secure access to data-intensive applications, such as streaming video and biometrics, while simultaneously meeting legacy narrowband interoperability requirements and future JTRS networking capabilities. The Falcon III AN/PRC-117G is significantly lighter and consumes less power than previous generations of manpack radios. The AN/PRC-117G provides wideband networking through the Harris Advanced Wideband Networking Waveform (ANW2) and the Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW). The radio also includes SINCGARS, Havequick II, the Harris High Performance Waveform (HPW), UHF DAMA SATCOM and programmable encryption. Because of its compact nature, the AN/PRC-117G fits into all standard SINCGARS installations. Harris RF Communications Division is the leading supplier of secure voice and data communications products, systems and networks to military, government and commercial organizations worldwide.
