Harris Receives $21 Million Broadcast Equipment Letter of Intent From TV Azteca

MELBOURNE, FL -- Harris Corporation has received aU.S. $21 million letter of intent from TV Azteca in Mexico for television transmitters,antennas, and other broadcast equipment that will further expand the network's reachthroughout Mexico.

During the next year, Harris may deliver 1 UHF and 44 VHF televisiontransmitters, antennas and accessories for 30 TV Azteca sites, and four Satellite NewsGathering (SNG) vehicles for remote news and special events coverage. Also included in thecontract is television transmitter equipment for TV Azteca's first international site inEl Salvador.

"The objectives of this program are to continue increasing TVAzteca's nationwide coverage, to assure 100% transmitting time with cutting-edgeequipment, and to replace small and obsolete transmitters," said Ignacio Morales,chief operating officer and executive president of finance and operations for TV Azteca."We are happy to have had a close and very successful relationship with Harris overthe last three years, and look forward to continuing a very productive relationship."

TV Azteca S.A. de C.V. is an independent commercial enterprise whichoperates two national networks -- Channel 7 and Channel 13 -- in Mexico. TV Azteca ownsand operates all 124 stations that comprise Channel 7 and the 126 Channel 13 stations. TheChannel 7 and Channel 13 stations reach 95% of the Mexican population. The Harrisequipment is part of an ongoing effort to modernize and expand TV Azteca's nationwidenetwork. In 1994, Harris received a U.S. $30 million contract from TV Azteca fortransmitters and equipment to upgrade television stations in 58 Mexican cities.
