The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has certified Harris Corporation’s (NYSE:HRS) MASTR® V P25 Base Station compliant under the updated requirements of the Project 25 Compliance Assessment Program (P25 CAP).

The P25 CAP certified MASTR® V Base Station is designed specifically for mission-critical applications and provides secure P25 digital trunked and conventional interoperable communications on a secure and scalable Internet Protocol (IP) network.

“Harris has achieved an important milestone with the successful declaration of compliance – the first in the industry – of our MASTR® V P25 trunked and conventional infrastructure from the DHS P25 CAP,” said Nino DiCosmo, president, Harris Public Safety and Professional Communications. “We recognize that our customers value independent P25 compliance verification and Harris has committed to the P25 CAP with the same level of energy and leadership we apply to our work for open standards.”

The P25 CAP is a partnership of the DHS Office for Interoperability and Compatibility (OIC), industry, and the emergency response community. Congress directed the creation of the P25 CAP in 2005 to ensure LMR equipment complies with P25 standards for interoperability and performance as determined by formal, independent testing in DHS-recognized P25 CAP laboratories, with initial focus on the Common Air Interface – which MASTR® V supports – that allows for over-the-air compatibility between radios and base station equipment.
