Highlights:

  • Extends seamless communications coverage over a wide area, reusing frequencies for optimum efficiency
  • IP-network connectivity for performance and simplicity
  • Uses less equipment than a typical analog simulcast network solution to reduce possible points of failure

Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS) has introduced an IP-based Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) Tier 2 and Tier 3 simulcast solution, powered by Tait. The DMR simulcast networks are designed to extend coverage over a wide area in regions with limited frequencies.

Harris DMR Tier 2 and Tier 3 simulcast networks provide trunking or conventional simulcast DMR communications, and can be stand-alone or integrated into a larger non-simulcast network. The DMR simulcast solution uses less equipment than a typical analog simulcast network solution, which increases reliability while reducing the possible points of failure and maintenance costs.

“Harris now has a full portfolio of economical DMR systems, terminals and solutions that enable utilities, transportation, manufacturing and industrial customers to transition from analog to digital," said Yoram Benit, vice president, product management, Harris Public Safety and Professional Communications. “Our new DMR simulcast solution provides our customers who need to reuse frequencies a resilient solution for multi-site deployment over a wide area.”
