Harris Corporation XL Radio Family Now Bluetooth Compatible with Leading Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus Devices

April 26, 2018

Harris Corporation’s (NYSE: HRS) XL family of radios now can be seamlessly integrated with leading self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) solutions provided by 3M Scott Fire and Safety.

With their industry-leading, software-defined architecture, the Harris XL-200P and XL-185P radios can now use Bluetooth 4.0 compliant technology to route audio to and from SCBA units, enhancing fire scene communications and improving worker safety. The radios’ software-defined architecture allows existing XL family users to add the capability with a software update.

Harris is committed to providing emergency responders with enhanced and continuously evolving communications capabilities that leverage an open-source platform and a software-defined architecture to streamline capability upgrades.

"This new Bluetooth SCBA capability, and others like it, are enabled in part by our numerous partnerships with leading providers such as 3M Scott Fire and Safety,” said Ryan Carson, director, product line management and strategy, Harris Public Safety and Professional Communications. “Harris is continually seeking partner solutions to strengthen our ecosystem and improve first responder capabilities.”
