The AN/ALR-97(V) is designed to provide automatic signal intercept, identification and Direction-Finding (DF). The system incorporates a signal processor, tuner, multiple radio frequency distribution units, an optional digital instantaneous frequency measuring (DIFM) channel, consisting of an Omni-directional antenna, RF notch filters, and a wideband processing bandwidth of 2-18GHz, a Windows-based workstation, a narrowband precision DF antenna and an array of wideband antennas.
